Snickers would like to say hello!!!!
Well I finally got to take this photo to send back to you all to let you know how Robin is doing. I think we brought her home in November 08 to keep my other mare company.
For the first few weeks, Snickers was quite nervous and walked the fence lines. Jazz was trying to chase her around a lot hoping to establish her place. Once Snickers got into the routine which was mostly do whatever you want to wherever you want to, she settled quite nicely.
Both horses are able to come into their stalls at their own free will so establishing ownership of the stalls got ironed out between the two quickly. Snickers has been quite clear that she is not to be shut in a stall for any length of time, so that works out well here. Snickers has never showed mean or nasty behavior to us and quickly learned that dinner time was special and consistent along with more hay than they could polish off.
Once spring 09 arrived, the trainer, Iris began working with both of the girls. Snickers has come along so nicely and seems to look forward to their lesson each week.
The photo I've attached was taken July 09 and was the first time my 4 year old son, Chase got to take his riding lesson on her. Snickers was unflappable. She stood quietly, was not nervous and looked like she was in her element again. I guess living in a field that butts up to a busy road with loud vehicles all the time has helped with that.
We are so blessed to have Snickers live here with us and we enjoy watching her and Jazz together. The alpha-position changes constantly -- I guess that's true with women, fickleness!!!
I don't ever remember seeing photos of Snickers when she first came to Days End, but compared to when we brought her home, I think she has come a long way and looks and feels marvelous!!!
Thanks Days End for all that you do for these animals.
CJ, Kenn and Chase!!
