ADOPTING A DAYS END HORSE

Days End Farm horses are adopted to homes in the following states:

MARYLAND, VIRGINIA, DELWARE and PENNSYLVANIA

All horses adopted outside Maryland must be within a 100 mile radius of Days End Farm Horse Rescue's facility. All horses are also available for on-site foster care.

Days End Farm does farm inspections before adoption and follow up visits on all adopted horses for two years. Unfortunately, we do not have the funds or the volunteer power to do this properly in any other states at this time. After two years, the adopter may be granted legal title, at the discretion of the Board of Directors, based on the adopter's care of their adopted horse; however, breed registration papers are retained by Days End Farm Horse Rescue to help enforce our no breeding policy.

Days End Farm Horse Rescue does not sell horses. We do ask for an adoption donation to help defer the costs of rehabilitating future horses. Adoption donations range from $500 to $1200 and are accepted in cash, certified check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Click here to see a sample adoption agreement. For more information on the adoption process click here.

All horses adopted from Days End Farm are current with their shots, coggins, trimming and worming. When adopted, copies of all medical records or history that we have for each horse, will be given to the adopter. Any breed registration papers will be held by Days End Farm Horse Rescue.

Although we evaluate each horse before they are made available for adoption, we recommend that before you adopt a horse, you ask a veterinarian for a prepurchase exam to ensure that the horse you are adopting is suitable for the work you plan to do.

Any horses available for our adoption or SOS program are available for on-site foster care.  You can also help these horses through our equidopt program.

We love our success stories!  If you have a story of a DEFHR horse that you would like to share, please let us know!

NOTE: Our policy is to geld all stallions.

If you have additional questions, please email us.
